Lines we Love: House of Harlow

I'm not a huge jewelry gal- I honestly have the hardest time picking it out! But then there are sometimes that I see lines and just know I love. House of Harlow 1960 is one of those. Nicole Richie's design endeavor has done quite well for itself since launching in 2008 and for a designer line, the prices are actually quite affordable!

I love this Aztec bracelet that retails for $75 and appreciate the fact that the line is decked out with a balance between heavier statement pieces and delicate accent pieces.

In times when we can't all buy up a whole new wardrobe, accessorizing has become one of our new favorite things to do! With the right accessories any outfit can feel new (or at least new-ER) and can get a lot more mileage.

Check out House of Harlow at celeb favorite Kitson or ShopBop and tell us which items you like!

Products We Love: Bumble & Bumble defrizz

My hair loves to be unruly- it's been that way for as long as I can remember. And seeing as I've been obsessed with beauty products for as just about as long, I went through my fair share of ammo when it came to serums, cremes, gels, pomades, etc. etc. etc. It was when I came across Bumble and Bumble's defrizz product, I feel in love and my search for a frizz-preventing product was left behind. [insert huge sigh of relief].

Reasons we love this godsend Bumble and Bumble product:
  • It protects against frizz, acts as a barrier to humidity and leaves hair soft, silky and flyaway-free
  • Works on hair when it's both straight and wavy (perfect for moi)
  • You can use it before or after styling- and don't we just love products with versatility. Before will help define curls and control frizz on damp hair and if your hair is already dry, defrizz will add sheen and control flyawys.
  • Want defrizz to work magic on your hair? Just squeeze a few drops onto your palm, work it through your hair with your fingers et Voila!

Get in the Know

You know that feeling you get after you hear about X event that happened and sounded so fun or Y party that you so should have known about, but didn't get word of? Well a great way to avoid this ever-so-joyful feeling of utter-popularity (sense the sarcasm) is signing up for the e-mail newsletters provided by practically every local publication around these days.

For example, I subscribe to the newsletters from San Francisco Magazine and 7x7 in addition to the obvious ones you already all know about - Daily Candy & UrbanDaddy (if you don't have an invite to UrbanDaddy and need one- just e-mail me at witwhimsy@gmail.com and I can hook you up!)

The great thing about these newsletters is that they are already on the pulse of what's happening in the city where you live. They give you advance notice on great things like happy hour deals, food festivals, celebrity events, benefits and so much more. It's a great way to amp up your social calendar and get outside your normal realm of activities. Plus, it's way easier than scouring through the pub's calendar of events listed on the websites because, let's be honest, who has time to do that?

Visit the website for your local magazines & newspapers & sign up today- get in the know. It's so much better to be that way! :)

Country WIT

What a stunning lady. Carrie Underwood rocked this amazing Roberto Cavalli dress and she is a total WIT! I totally love her look here.

The One Hundred: Do you have them?

I just bought Nina Garcia's bestseller "The One Hundred" and am so excited to delve into it! It details the one hundred pieces every woman should have in her closet. It just arrived today & looks so witty already!

Have you read it? What did you think?

Pick up yourself a copy at Amazon for a great discounted price.

I'll post a full review when I'm all through!

Springtime Means Spring Dresses!

For those Catholic WITs Easter is approaching and we all know Easter brings not only candy, but another sign that Spring has finally arrived! And what comes with Spring? Dresses!

WIT & Whimsy picked some of our favs to get you in the mood for spring dress shopping!

Relatively unknown designer Gold Hawk designed this beautiful silk-chiffon dress with organza and frayed chiffon floral appliqué that's a great design for those brunettes and bronzed beauties out there. It's light & airy and a great balance if you need a dress to carry you from day into nighttime.

Next up is this gorgeous voile shift dress by Rory Beca. I think I need this for one of the post-wedding brunches that are teed up for this summer!

Marc by Marc Jacobs is known for its bold and fun geometric patterns & this dress is no exception. It's fun & flirty and great for day parties & weekend plans spent exploring your neighborhood or shopping & brunch with the girls.

Can't quite afford the price tags of these chic frocs? Check out this great tool to help you watch out for when they get marked down!
For more great dresses, visit ShopBop's fantastic trove of them! Drool away...le sigh!
